We define discrimination as acting on prejudice against minorities1We expand further on this definition in three ways Acting- Prevention of equal opportunities
- Unjust treatment for no reason
- Exploitation
- Segregation to the disadvantage of groups
Prejudice
- Viewing groups of people as threats because of their differing views
Lack of understanding of a group due to exaggerated perception of differences (stereotypes) MinoritiesPeople with less power 2 (at a national level) who are often taken advantage of Those who have less power are those who - Are less educated or have less educational opportunities
- Have less buying power due to low socioeconomic status
- Lack representation in positions of power/media
