Erik Erikson: swppr.org/textbook/ch%209%20erikson.pdf (I'll provide bibliography soon) A Focus on Erik Erikson: Industry vs. Inferiority
-The industry vs. inferiority stage focuses on the ability of a child to do things (competence) and how they develop themselves and their identity. -The more prepared they are at an early age the more competent they feel; with this they'd have higher self-esteem. Preparation is key. -It doesn't really matter whether or not the child comes form a low-income background. However it'll help us target what to do to help improve their success. -Thus, a child's self-esteem and their ability to do well derives from what they learn at a younger age and how they grow up. -The focus of our HIA project, which in part are these after-school programs for younger ones, makes sense in that they help foster a young child's self-esteem by providing a positive learning environment early on.
