I didn't see a thread for the journal for 7/25, so I'll post my findings here. The sources I'm looking at is how motivation at an early age helps with higher education.

Federal government pays $35 billion per year on the Pell Grant to help students
Low income students tend to not know that financial aid is accessible or how to get them
Because of that, they "conclude at an early age they will not be able to afford college." This re-enforces what we were talking about in one of our earlier meetings: some families discourage kids from pursuing higher education because college is too difficult to succeed in or too difficult to pay for.
A school in Michigan had a program where private donors ensured higher education for those who graduated the school. These "programs appear to be effective because students know at a fairly young age that college will be affordable for them"
