EVERYONE should respond to this.
Explain what HIA is. If I was a prospective student, how would you describe it to me? Tell me anything and everything you know about it as you understand it.

Every Chapter in Phi Theta Kappa have an HIA objective, usually it is based off a theme created by the international team. HIA is a objective based project to create and mold what each chapters theme and project that they want to focus on each year. Mainly it seems HIA is very much like a professional way to address problems and take action to solve and/or assist to any organization. For an example, at Regionals it seemed all different chapters covered a lot of different problems in their communities and tried to incorporate it into their project. Overall HIA, is a outline on how we should approach problems using research, and critical thinking before pursuing that problem.

The Honors in Action project allows us to address something that we as a chapter of Phi Theta Kappa find interesting, or to address any problem specific to our community. Looking at it from a global perspective, the HIA guide provides ideas and themes to help chapters narrow down on what topic to address. Aside from being a research project, HIA gives all those who help out the chance to develop their inner leadership qualities. Drawing from the enthusiasm and the research going into the topic that our HIA project will focus on, it's also important for us to find out how we can take that motivation and involve/engage Elgin Community College and the surrounding communities.
